Helen's Front Garden Lawn with Drainage Root Zone
A fresh, even front lawn with timber edging and gravel borders, built on a drainage-friendly root zone to replace grass that had turned boggy.
After
BeforeBrief
Helen wanted a fresh lawn at the front of her home. The existing grass had suffered from poor drainage and boggy conditions, so simply re-turfing over the top would not have solved the problem.
Constraints
The ground held water, which meant a standard lawn installation would have struggled to establish. We needed to dig deeper than on a typical project and build a base that drains properly.
Our solution
We excavated deeper than usual and installed a more substantial drainage-friendly root zone to improve drainage and give the new turf the best possible growing conditions. This groundwork and extra material went beyond our standard lawn installation, so it was explained to Helen and agreed as an extra to the original project. The finished lawn is framed with timber edging and gravel borders.
